Discover Gaelic Games with Go Gaelic!

Go Gaelic is a group of teachers from County Clare in the West of Ireland who are passionate about Irish culture and in particular Gaelic Games.

Who We Are

Go Gaelic is a group of teachers from County Clare in the West of Ireland who are passionate about Irish culture and in particular Gaelic Games. We have more than 15 years experience offering fun, introductory courses in Irish sport to more than 80 different nationalities.

Our priority is to share our passion with schools, universities, social projects and companies around the world. To date we have visited Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia.

What We Do

Intercultural Exchanges

Go Gaelic´s intercultural trips involve visiting schools, social projects, sports teams etc. to give fun introductory courses in Gaelic Games and Irish culture. We are also working on additional activities such as Irish Dance and Music workshops.

In return we hope to learn as much as possible about the host country and its culture

Educational Links

Go Gaelic also creates links between educational partners.

We like to share our experience of the Irish Education system when visiting schools and also we are open to finding out best practice in our host country.

We have facilitated visits of Brazilian, Argentinian and Mexican teachers to schools in Co Clare, which has led to greater educational links and awareness between Latin America and Ireland.

Why
Go Gaelic?

Experience the spirit of Ireland

1. Benefits of intercultural exchanges for educator

  • Intercultural dialogue.
  • Opposite of “normal” tourism, the hosts get to know and experience irish culture, games, music and dance.
  • The workshops create team spirit, help gain new skills, open the mind to new cultures, develop intercultural skills.
  • Spark curiosity in other sports.

2. Sustainable Development Goals

Our activities help implement the SDG 4: Quality Education; specifically, the target 4.7, which promotes, through education, global citizenship, appreciation of cultural diversity and culture´s contribution to sustainable development.

3. Erasmus+

We took part in one Erasmus exchange and are currently working on creating a project that would help introduce Gaelic Games to minority groups in Europe in conjunction with our European partner schools.

Projects

Latin America and North America

Ireland has long standing relations with some Latin American countries, while in others, the Irish presence is not immediately evident. There are interesting similarities and connections between our countries (such as the presence of indigenous languages, indigenous sports, strong tradition in music, storytelling, dance, etc.)  that Go Gaelic is further exploring.

In Go Gaelic we aim to play our part in introducing Irish culture in all countries in Latin America primarily through the medium of Gaelic Games.
